Funded under the EU Community Initiative EQUAL, MOLE was a transnational co-operation partnership (TCP), bringing together a range of organisations working with asylum seekers in Germany, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

The main goals of the TCP MOLE were:

  • to simultaneously test different instruments that are meant to improve the benefits for asylum seekers (e.g. information provision, vocational and language training, networking, mainstreaming, empowerment, etc.);
  • to identify the approaches, activities and methodologies that provide a better contribution to the benefits for asylum seekers;
  • to transmit the identified successful instruments to other frameworks and work fields in the refugee aid to work in the framework of European asylum and labour market policy by developing strategies for combating xenophobia and improving lobbying.

The TCP MOLE assumed that transnational cooperation will lead to cross cultural understanding and self-support which is needed to stop discrimination and to promote equality.

Based on the experience of the respective EQUAL development partnerships and its member organisations MOLE have produced policy recommendations for the provision of information, services and integration of asylum seekers. The recommendations will be disseminated to decision makers and practioners. In particular MOLE have identified 3 priority areas for action for EU Policy: information provision, vocational training and raising public awareness.
